Almost everyone I work with is a stronger candidate than their application makes them look.

I'm Caitlin. I'm a Careers Adviser, and before that I worked in recruitment, so I've seen hiring from both sides.

In recruitment, I watched strong people get turned down for reasons nobody ever explained to them. They could do the job. They just hadn't been shown how to prove it during the recruitment process.

That's why The Candidate Edit exists. I know how these decisions get made - and I use that knowledge to help you.

Where This
Comes From.

I've worked as a recruitment adviser: screening applications, interviewing candidates, headhunting on LinkedIn and training hiring managers on how to recruit. I've also built and hired my own team, from writing the job description to making the offer.

And I'm an experienced Careers Adviser. I know how to ask the right questions to draw out what makes you a strong candidate - your experience, your values, your strengths and what genuinely interests you.

Work with me and you get all three perspectives: recruiter, hiring manager and Careers Adviser.

Why This
Matters.

The difference between getting through and getting filtered out can be surprisingly small.

A CV that buried the relevant thing on page two. A LinkedIn profile that didn't contain the words anyone was searching for. An interview answer that was true but never answered the question.

Those are the things candidates rarely get told.

So that's what I do. I show you what the person on the other side is seeing, and then I fix it with you.

Who I
Work With.

I work with people who are ready for their next move: career changers, people going for a promotion, and people who are applying consistently but hearing nothing back.

I don't work with university students or recent graduates. You'll usually have careers and employability support available through your university. Use it. You've already paid for it, so make the most of it!

I also specialise in the UK job market and work with clients around the world. If you're applying to UK roles from overseas, I can help you understand the recruitment expectations that don't always translate between countries.
